I am a painter, muralist, triathlete, and Raleigh native with a degree in Fine Arts. My artistic journey allowed me to study in Japan during high school and Florence, Italy during college. My prints and paintings are featured in galleries, shops, and private collections, both nationally and internationally. I am passionate about nature and art and have created a series of paintings devoted to the Triangle Greenway System, donating a percentage of the print sale proceeds to support local greenways. My studio is located near downtown Raleigh, where I continue to create my work.
As an artist, my medium is paint. There is a term in the Japanese language “wabi sabi”, which celebrates the charm and uniqueness of human-made objects that have imperfections. In an era where digital tools can produce flawless images with clean lines, bright colors, and clear edges, I find fulfillment in the tactile experience of mixing pigments, applying my brush to the canvas, and allowing the organic nature of my medium to shape my work. My art is a reflection of this philosophy– embracing the authenticity of creation.
I believe I create my best art when inspiration comes from my heart and when I paint what I know. Having spent most of my life in Raleigh, I know the city deeply, and despite being fortunate enough to travel the world, my love for my hometown remains unmatched. As an art student, I thought a lot about what in Raleigh moves me as an artist. About 16 years ago my husband and I started training for sprint triathlons, which led us to discover and appreciate Raleigh’s greenway system.
